Hill of the Arts explores the relationship between architecture, culture and human interaction. Developed for the YAC competition in Turin, the proposal reimagines an existing historic site as a place where artists, visitors and the local community meet through shared experiences.
Rather than concentrating all functions within a single building, the project organises the programme into a series of interconnected volumes dedicated to culture, hospitality and living. A theatre, exhibition spaces, artists’ studios, restaurant, thermal baths and residential accommodation are linked by a continuous sequence of public and semi-public spaces, transforming movement through the site into an architectural experience.
The design draws inspiration from Turin’s rich cultural heritage while responding carefully to the existing landscape and historic fabric. Existing structures become part of a contemporary composition that respects the identity of the place instead of competing with it. Open courtyards, transparent connections and framed views encourage exploration, dialogue and unexpected encounters between artists and visitors.
The proposal understands architecture not only as a collection of buildings, but as a framework for interaction. By connecting people, programme and landscape, it creates an environment where culture becomes part of everyday life and where the journey through the site is as meaningful as the destination itself.
